Interview with Lawrence McCormick
Throughout the years, a great many people have worked with English dubbing in Rome. Some made it their livelihood and worked in the business for more than 40 to 50 years, whereas others only did it on the side for a certain period of time, but the common denominator with most of these people is that dubbing is something they fell into by chance. Not for everyone, though. For some, dubbing was what you might call a family affair. Such was the case for Italian-American voice actor Lawrence McCormick, whose mother, Giulia Patriarca, was a prolific dubbing actress in the 1960s and 70s, and whose stepfather, Christopher Cruise, was one of the town’s most important English dubbing directors all through the 60s, 70s and 80s. Lawrence himself got in on the game at the start of the 1990s and quickly rose through the ranks and became a prolific voice heard in hundreds of films, cartoons and documentaries from the 1990s and 2000s.
